Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking an Autonomic Tech I to perform autonomic nervous system tests, measure physiological responses, and record data in EPIC under the supervision of an Autonomic Medicine Specialist. You will prepare patients, assist with sweat testing, apply EKG leads, and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology or allied health field preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred.
• CAP certification or progress toward Autonomic Tech II status within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of patient care experience (neurodiagnostic tech, EMT, MA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for autonomic testing before and during appointments.
• Draw up acetylcholine syringes for sweat testing in sterile environment.
• Explain tests to patients and ensure understanding of procedures.
• Place EKG leads and measure vital signs during tests.
• Record test data in real time in EPIC and communicate findings promptly.
• Maintain scheduling with department and manage supplies.
• Learn new tests and adapt testing methods as the field evolves.
