Job summary

Yazaki North America, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Engineer – Test System Development in Canton, MI to design, develop and validate automotive hardware and automated test systems. You will apply PCB, embedded, and software know-how to create robust test solutions for vehicle electronics.

The role emphasizes hands-on hardware testing, CAN networking, and script-driven automation, with collaboration across product design and validation teams to ensure quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 6 years of experience in automotive industry, preferably in test system development, test automation, or embedded systems.
• 3–5 years of experience in hardware design and development; open to entry level (0–2 years) for right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, integration, and validation of automotive electronic hardware, PCB-based systems, and automated test systems.
• Gather, analyze, and review requirements for automotive test systems and develop compliant solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and integrate test system hardware and software.
• Perform hardware testing, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system validation.
• Review schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware documentation.
• Analyze CAN communication and troubleshoot network issues with standard tools.
• Develop software tools and scripts to support test automation, debugging, data collection, and analysis.
• Verify and validate completed test systems and provide ongoing support and maintenance.
• Document test system designs, hardware configurations, and development activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development, validation, and testing.
• Contribute to modular and reusable test system designs to maximize equipment utilization and reduce costs.
• Work effectively in a team environment following established processes and best practices.
