Job summary

Cognizant is hiring an Automotive Test Automation Engineer in Michigan to deliver stable test environments and automate testing for distributed automotive features. You will collaborate with systems, wiring, design release, and software teams to validate electrical features before production to support vehicle launches.

The role requires 3+ years in dynamic systems and embedded real-time controls (C/C++), with strong emphasis on test automation, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and AUTOSAR knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering or related field with control systems focus.
• Experience with data analysis, scripting and modeling & simulation using Python, Matlab, Simulink or Stateflow.
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR standards and automotive software development tools.
• 3+ years in dynamic systems and embedded real-time controls for automotive or similar electromechanical systems (C/C++).
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute functional test scenarios within Agile sprints.
• Interface with development and test teams to implement automated tests and tools.
• Review requirements to ensure testability and traceability.
• Log test results and defects in JIRA; debug failures and prioritize fixes.
• Reproduce and troubleshoot defects with feature engineers.
• Participate in root cause analysis of hardware and software issues.
• Contribute to system design, documentation, and testing of infotainment systems.
• Provide sprint planning estimates for testing tasks.
• Maintain and validate hardware lab nodes and related maintenance processes.
• Develop debugging scripts and tools to identify errors in tests.
• Analyze root causes of software failures and validate fixes.
• Contribute to automation enhancements for upcoming vehicle programs.
