The instructor will ensure alignment with department syllabus, manage attendance, and maintain grade records. The ideal candidate holds an Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology, at least 5 years of industry experience with ASE G1/A6, and demonstrates Morton College core values.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology, related field, or equivalent industry training.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience with ASE certification in G1, A6, and area of instruction.
  • Must demonstrate Morton College core values: compassion, equity, accountability, innovation, excellence.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 5+ years teaching in community college/university.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize departmental syllabus template, approved textbooks, and supplemental course materials.
  • Submit personalized course syllabus one week prior to course start date.
  • Distribute and review comprehensive syllabus with students in the first week.
  • Follow Course Data Form as distributed by Deans’ Office.
  • Adhere to printed course schedule meeting times and locations.
  • Obtain prior approval for substitutes or guest speakers from Deans’ Office.
  • Maintain grade book in electronic or hard copy format.
  • Take and record student attendance daily.
  • Submit attendance verification and class rosters to Deans’ Office.
