Job summary

Bell Point Auto Sales in Kentucky is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician/Mechanic to join our growing team. This startup operation offers hands-on work, problem-solving, and the chance to help build a service department from the ground up.

You should be comfortable diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicles, work independently, and take pride in doing the job right and efficiently. We provide a supportive, small-team environment with opportunities for advancement as the business expands.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional automotive repair or technician experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts.
  • Comfortable using automotive diagnostic tools and scan equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair jobs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Dependable, punctual, and organized.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Automotive technician training or trade school education is an asset.
  • ASE certification is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical vehicle issues using diagnostic equipment and hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Inspect vehicles to identify necessary repairs, maintenance needs, and potential safety concerns.
  • Perform general automotive repairs and maintenance, including oil changes, brakes, suspension, batteries, tires, tune-ups, and other common repairs.
  • Diagnose engine, transmission, electrical, braking, steering, and other vehicle system concerns.
  • Perform pre-sale inspections and help ensure vehicles are safe and ready for sale.
  • Clearly document inspections, diagnoses, repairs performed, and parts needed.
  • Provide accurate recommendations regarding necessary repairs.
  • Help establish efficient shop procedures for inspections, repairs, parts, documentation, and vehicle status tracking.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Properly use and care for shop tools and equipment.
  • Work with management to prioritize vehicles and keep repairs moving efficiently.
