Job summary

Rohrman Automotive Group in Lafayette, IN is seeking an Automotive Apprentice Technician to join our service team. You will perform essential preventive maintenance quickly and correctly to keep vehicles on the road and service lanes moving.

No prior experience required; a background in automotive service is a plus. You’ll gain hands-on experience, participate in manufacturer-sponsored training, and advance toward a full-service technician role.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; a background in automotive service or a related technical field is a plus.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication services accurately and in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Inspect and replenish all vehicle fluids; check and adjust tire pressure as needed.
• Document all work performed on the repair order and communicate any additional service needs to the service advisor.
• Keep customer vehicles clean and notify the service advisor immediately of any changes to the vehicle's condition.
• Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and stay current on technical bulletins.
• Maintain all dealership-owned tools and equipment; keep shop area clean and organized.
• Comply with all hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, and applicable safety regulations.
