Job Description:

UPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our fleet maintenance team. He/She will maintain a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. Powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline, and alternative technologies such as compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electric vehicles in some locations. Automotive Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining systems like hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical, and engine control. Automotive Technicians must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Saturday schedules, depending on location needs. UPS offers attractive wages, benefits, paid vacations, and uniforms. Candidates must possess the required hand tools for the job.

Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Meet D.O.T requirements as per job assignment.
  2. Perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, standing, walking, and pivoting throughout the workday.
  3. Occasionally sit as required.
  4. Use hand grasping, manipulation, reaching, and power grasping to complete tasks.
  5. Operate standard and manual transmission vehicles.
  6. Use power and pneumatic tools.
  7. Obtain Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certification.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Current documented automotive mechanical experience.
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and computers.
  • Possession of full set of personal hand tools is preferred.
  • NY Heavy Vehicle Inspector license is preferred.
  • Work full-time shifts of 8-10 hours, 4-5 days per week.
  • Dependability in reporting and completing work on time.
  • Flexibility for varying shifts and overtime.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Work in environments with variable temperatures, humidity, and exposure to various substances and conditions.
  • Effective communication skills to perform tasks safely and efficiently.

The position pays $38.59 per hour, with additional benefits including weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), pension, health benefits, paid leave, holidays, and employee stock purchase options.

Other Criteria

Employer will not sponsor visas. Candidates must be located locally or willing to relocate. The job location is HALFMOON, NY (NYHMN).
