Job summary

Florida Power & Light Company seeks a skilled technician to perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment. Under general supervision, you will analyze faults, operate diagnostic tools, and ensure safe practices on all tasks.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 2+ years experience, CDL Class A with Tanker or ability to obtain within 12 months, and ASE certifications related to heavy-duty vehicles. Excellent problem-solving and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years experience in maintenance/repair of vehicles and equipment.
  • CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • One or more ASE certifications for medium/heavy duty trucks (e.g., T4 Brakes) or related degree/certificate or military MOS.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and demonstrates safe working practices.
  • Analyses faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment and calibration devices.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs to vehicles and equipment.
  • Understands operating manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
  • Orders general use parts and ensures proper charging in FA system.
  • Communicates with vendors to test products and services.
  • Communicates with customers on vehicle and equipment status; attendance and storm duty requirements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under general supervision:

  • Communicates and demonstrates safe working practices
  • Analyzes faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
  • Performs maintenance and repairs to vehicles and equipment
  • Understands operating manuals, blueprints and technical drawings
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
  • Orders general use parts through the internet and ensures all parts are correctly charged out in FA system
  • Communicates indirectly with vendors to test products and technical services
  • Communicates with customers on vehicle and equipment statusAbility to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High School Grad/GED
  • Experience: 2+ years
  • Valid Driver’s License (Non CDL)
  • Three Medium Duty/Heavy Duty Truck ASE Certifications of which one is for T4 Brakes OR Associate’s Degree OR certificate of completion from an accredited university within a related field (e.g. Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, etc.)OR Military MOS within a related field (e.g. Automotive/Truck/Equipment maintenance, Diesel engines, Hydraulics, etc.)
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker “N” Endorsement or must attain within 12 months of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Automotive Air Conditioning Certification
