Overview

Big O Automotive Technicians diagnose, recommend, and perform automotive repairs accurately and efficiently, following all company policies and procedures. Certifications determine the technician level:

  • Automotive Technician A – 4 or more ASE Certifications
  • Automotive Technician B – 1-3 ASE Certifications
  • Automotive Technician C – No ASE Certifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform brake, front end, alignment maintenance, and mechanical repairs following company standards
  • Diagnose and repair customer vehicles, ensuring quality control
  • Train and mentor other employees as directed
  • Maintain smooth workflow for customer service and productivity
  • Provide Big O’s Extra Care Services to customers
  • Participate in weekly meetings on safety, policies, and updates
  • Work with management to meet service quotas
  • Accurately document work and communicate with the invoicing team
  • Use company purchase programs to maximize profitability
  • Complete required training regularly
  • Ensure vehicle inspections are consistently performed
  • Meet service, sales, and productivity goals
  • Assist with processing adjustments and core credits
  • Adhere to company policies and perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • At least two years of experience as a lube/tire/service technician
  • Current Motor Vehicle Inspection License (Missouri)
  • Ability to learn new skills and use technical materials
  • Proficient with computers and office tools
  • Ability to operate vehicles safely
  • Effective communication skills with customers
  • Willingness to handle hazardous materials and outdoor conditions
  • Compliance with PPE regulations
  • Good sensory abilities (vision, hearing, speech, odor detection)
  • Physical ability to move and handle supplies up to 75 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Availability for holidays, weekends, and after-hours work
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings and legal work authorization

Preferred Skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Over two years of automotive shop experience
  • ASE certifications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work efficiently at a fast pace
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Attention to detail
