Job summary

Jasper Engines & Transmissions is seeking an experienced Automotive Technical Specialist to join our manufacturing quality team. This role requires hands‑on automotive knowledge and the ability to drive quality improvements from day one on the shop floor.

You will lead problem-solving, develop tests, and collaborate with groups to balance quality and cost while advancing new technologies and vendor parts validation.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive, engine machining, or manufacturing environments.
• Proven problem-solving and root cause analysis experience (A3, 8D, or similar).
• Ability to document findings and communicate technical information.
• Familiarity with quality system tools and data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Quality Captain for a production pod, owning overall quality performance.
• Lead and execute A3 problem‑solving activities for: Warranty failures; Test stand failures; Internal quality issues.
• Analyze customer call notes and warranty data to identify trends and drive corrective actions.
• Partner closely with Group Leaders to ensure quality output while maintaining production cost targets.
• Develop and maintain work instructions and standardized processes.
• Implement built‑in quality practices to prevent defects at the source.
• Support and lead fit, form, and function validation of new and existing vendor parts.
• Develop and execute test plans, including: Test stand validation; Field testing; Durability testing.
• Support failure analysis and collaborate with new product development teams.
• Lead or support cost reduction and salvage initiatives without compromising quality.
• Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies to improve machining and assembly processes.

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Technical Specialist to step into a Quality role within our manufacturing operations. This is not an entry‑level position — the ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience in automotive, engine machining, or mechanical systems and be capable of driving results from day one.

Ideal Candidate

• Automotive technician, shop foreman, service advisor, diagnostic specialist, or other individual with strong automotive knowledge
• Interested in applying technical expertise to quality improvement, problem‑solving, and product development rather than performing daily vehicle repairs
• Strong communication, organization, and computer skills
• Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience in automotive, engine machining, or mechanical manufacturing environments
• Demonstrate success in problem‑solving and root cause analysis (A3, 8D, or similar)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams
• Comfortable learning and utilizing company software systems, databases, and quality reporting tools
• Ability to document findings, analyze data, create reports, and communicate technical information effectively
• Strong critical thinking and data‑driven decision‑making skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical data, test results, and customer feedback
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence across teams
• Self‑driven with the ability to take ownership and lead initiatives independently
