Job summary

tesa SE in New Jersey seeks a Product Development Intern to support the Automotive BU from May 17 through August 13, 2027. You will collaborate with the Product Development team to qualify materials, prototype PSA tapes, run tests, and help with scale-up activities.

This hands-on internship offers experience in a multinational R&D environment, development of cost-effective adhesive options, and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Development, Materials Science, Chemistry, Industrial Design or related field with 30+ credits.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Must stand/walk in a facility environment.
• Effective independent and cross-functional teamwork capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
• Valid driver's license with up to 20% travel to Grand Rapids / Novi as needed.

Responsibilities

• Qualify raw materials with Supply Chain for cost-effective options.
• Create PSA tape prototypes via lab or pilot coating.
• Test prototypes, analyze data, and draw conclusions.
• Troubleshoot technically and recommend next steps.
• Support scale-up activities during production trials.
• Conduct feasibility studies for high-performance tapes.
• Identify adhesive options for implementation.
• Perform basic physical and application testing for customers.
• Other duties as assigned.
