Job summary

Kearns High School, part of Granite School District, seeks a CTE Automotive Service Technician Instructor for the 2026-27 school year. The teacher may instruct Introduction to Automotive and Auto 2 Auto Chassis MLR, reporting to the principal.

Candidates must hold Utah educator licenses with automotive endorsement or an equivalent credential, with ASE-related exams preferred. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, labs, and industry partnerships to align skills with real-world needs.

Qualifications

• Valid Utah Professional Educator License with secondary or CTE endorsement and automotive endorsement.
• Valid Associate Educator License with the same endorsement or equivalent out-of-state licensure.
• Equivalent license and endorsement in another state or six years of related, full-time occupational experience within the last ten years.
• Current ASE Industry exams: G1-MLR, A4-Suspension & Steering, A5-Brakes, A6-Electrical/Electronic Systems, A8-Engine Performance; certification in all five areas preferred.
• If qualifying by industry experience, provide work history and resume with superv supervisor letter as applicable.
• If qualifying by ASE exams, upload current certificates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly lab environment following required safety procedures.
• Deliver instruction meeting ASE competency standards across auto tech areas.
• Use computers and diagnostic tools in instruction.
• Lead a SkillsUSA-related student organization and collaborate with peers in PLCs.
• Align classroom instruction with industry needs and certifications.
• Develop lesson plans and adapt instruction to student needs.
• Utilize technology to enhance student engagement and conduct assessments.
• Build positive relationships with students, staff, industry partners, and parents.
