AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE ADVISOR

THE POSITION:
The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling additional services to customers.

Education and Experience:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information

- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of dealer experience
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) rating as set by service manager
- Maintain the prescribed standard for hours per customer repair order written
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, communicate effectively to determine mechanical issues, and obtain accurate customer and vehicle data
- Test-drive vehicles as necessary
- Advise customers on vehicle care and maintenance according to manufacturers’ specifications
- Inspect vehicles for additional repair needs and clearly communicate repair instructions
- Notify dispatcher of incoming work
- Provide estimates for labor and parts, and follow up with customers for approval if needed
- Establish and confirm payment methods, obtain credit approval if necessary, and secure customer signatures
- Monitor repair progress, communicate updates to customers, and record changes accurately
- Handle inquiries regarding work and appointments
- Ensure quality control and reduce rework
- Deliver vehicles and address customer questions
- Maintain relationships for repeat and referral business
- Keep work and customer areas clean and organized
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional use of hands, reaching, climbing, bending, and crouching
- Regular standing, talking, and hearing
- Frequent walking and sitting
- Potential exposure to exhaust fumes or airborne particles
- Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision
