Job summary

Malco Products Inc. is seeking an R&D Formulation Chemist to develop innovative automotive appearance products from concept to production, working with Quality, Sales, Marketing and Operations.

This role leads cross-functional projects, evaluates raw materials, and ensures regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in product formulation, strong data analysis, and hands-on experience with stability studies and scale-up in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related science; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of new product formulation experience in consumer or automotive detailing.
• Experience with stability studies, efficacy testing, and scale-up.
• Familiarity with GHS/SDS and chemical safety regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to present technical findings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and perform formulation requirements from research to scale-up with production.
• Collaborate with Quality to develop specifications and test methods; ensure compliance.
• Work with contract customers to develop new products and oversee scale-up.
• Evaluate new raw materials for functionality, stability, regulatory compliance and cost.
• Identify product improvements with Sales and Marketing; translate market needs into formulations.
• Research materials for safety regulations and modify formulas for compliance.
• Maintain lab notebooks and report project status to stakeholders.
• Provide data to support SDS development and maintenance.
• Assist Sales, Marketing, Quality Control with product knowledge across lines.
• Participate in Quality Improvement Teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Perform complaint investigations and root-cause analysis.
