Job summary

Intertek’s automotive testing lab in Kentwood, Michigan is seeking a Vehicle Test Fit Technician – Autobody. You will test fit body panels and lighting systems, evaluate fit and function, and document results in a fast-paced, clean environment.

Requirements include at least a high school diploma, the ability to attain ASE Certification, and 2+ years of auto collision repair or service technician experience. Strong communication, organizational and multitasking skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Test fit body panels and lighting systems on vehicles; evaluate fit, appearance and functionality.

• Meet project, department and customer deadlines.
• Identify and implement process improvements.

Vehicle Test Fit Technician – Autobody – Kentwood, Michigan

Position located in Intertek’s automotive testing lab in Kentwood, MI.

Schedule: Monday through Friday in a clean environment.

What you’ll do

• Test fit body panels and lighting systems on vehicles, evaluate fit, appearance and functionality.
• Objectively comment on fit, appearance and functional comparison.
• Accurately complete documentation.
• Provide input to management, customers, and others as requested.
• Organize daily workload efficiently, communicate turnaround time and status.
• Meet project, department, and customer deadline requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Transport vehicles or part pickups to/from laboratory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to attain ASE Certification.
• At least 2 years of experience as an automobile collision repair or service technician, or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to plan, organize, and complete projects within standards and timelines.
• Experience with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Physical dexterity to perform technical functions inherent to the position.
• Ability to stand/sit for prolonged periods.
• Ability to read specifications and technical documents.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 49 lbs.
• Effective communication and active listening.
• Work independently in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment.
• Excellent time management, prioritization, organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable record.
• Willingness to use personal vehicle for travel and submit mileage.
• Own set of basic hand tools.
