Job summary

Briggs Auto Group is seeking an Automotive Painter for the Topeka Recon Department. This role involves painting and refinishing vehicles in a centralized reconditioning operation to deliver retail-ready inventory quickly while upholding quality standards.

Ideal candidates have production painting experience and the ability to work efficiently within a team, maintain a clean workspace, and adhere to safety practices. This position is based in Topeka, KS and supports our recon process.

Qualifications

• Automotive painting or refinishing experience preferred.
• Automotive Paint-preparation Experience Strongly Preferred.
• Knowledge of sanding, masking, priming, blending, and refinishing procedures.
• Ability to perform minor cosmetic paint repairs efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain quality while working in a production-focused environment.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of the recon team.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform automotive paint and refinishing work on used vehicle inventory.
• Prepare panels and vehicle surfaces for paint.
• Sand, mask, prime, seal, and complete necessary prep work.
• Mix and match automotive paint.
• Apply basecoat, clearcoat, and other refinishing materials.
• Blend adjoining panels when necessary for proper color match.
• Repair and refinish minor cosmetic damage.
• Inspect completed work for color match, finish quality, coverage, and defects.
• Correct minor paint imperfections when necessary.
• Maintain spray guns, painting equipment, paint booth, and work area.
• Coordinate with the Recon Manager and recon team to keep vehicles moving efficiently through the department.
• Complete assigned work within established recon timelines.
• Follow all company safety procedures and proper handling requirements for refinishing materials.

This position is responsible for completing paint and refinishing work on vehicles moving through our centralized reconditioning operation. The primary goal is to help get vehicles retail-ready quickly while maintaining a professional appearance and consistent quality standard.
