Job summary

RIDE Coach and Bus in Lancaster, CA is seeking an experienced painter to perform paint preparation and coating on vehicles in a factory setting. You may prime, edge, or replace parts, following work instructions and quality standards.

This role requires attention to detail, proper PPE usage, and safe operation of spray equipment. Responsibilities include masking, sanding, mixing primers and coatings, and applying multiple coats to achieve a high-quality finish.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in automotive painting. Familiar with spray equipment and automotive coatings.
  • Ability to read instructions and work from blueprints/engineering docs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles for painting according to work instructions.
  • Prime, edge, or replace parts as needed.
  • Mask, sand, and fit components prior to paint application.
  • Operate spray guns and maintain equipment.
  • Mix and apply primers, lacquers, primers, polyurethane, epoxy coatings.
  • Disassemble/reassemble body components as required.
  • Follow PPE and safety procedures.

Painters complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to work instruction specifications. May also prime, edge, or jam replacement part

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the
  • Uses measuring tape, levels, squares for installations based on Engineering documentation (metric is preferred)
  • Use of standard hand tools where applicable
  • Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specification including the direction of the mentoring Painter
  • Use of power tools such as electric and pneumatic tools where applicable
  • Use of lacquers, primers, synthetic enamels polyurethane, clear coat and epoxy with spray guns Installation and removal of fasteners such as nuts, bolts and rivets
  • Knowledge of paint booth preparation for spraying applications
  • May be responsible for wet sanding/buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards
  • Use of a spray gun (HVLP) and maintenance.
  • Must have experience using consumables such as (various grits of sandpapers, degreasers, Proper cleaning towels ext.)
  • Responsible for taping, masking, sanding, buffing and other prepare for paint work as instructed
  • Experience with Axalta and PPG paint system products preferred
  • Responsible for preparing unit for painting: sanding, blocking, applying putty and visual inspection
  • Performs bodywork (filling, blocking, bodyline creating/moving)
  • Must know how to mix and apply primers, polyurethane and epoxy
  • Disassembles and reassembles body components
  • Mixing of Bondo required, Fiber Glass preferred

COMPETENCIES

  • 5 years’ experience painting in automotive industry.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works around hazardous machinery; in exterior weather and may work under inclement conditions; loud noise environment and a confined workspace. The employee is occasionally required to work nights; exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high temperatures; fumes, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 15% sitting, 40% walking, and 45% standing, push; pull; bend; climb stairs; use hands to finger; kneel; file; reach below shoulders; and drive a motor vehicle. The employee is occasionally required to recline; reach above shoulders; lift 50 pounds; lift from the floor or at arm level; and lift bulky items. The job is performed under some temperature extremes. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED. One year of related experience.

PAY RANGE: $17.50-$25.00/hour
