Job Title: Paint Technician

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for all aspects of the paint application process, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. Also, on an as-needed basis, perform duties of Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II, Senior Reconditioning Associate, and Senior Reconditioning Associate I.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete paint application tasks
• Perform minor repairs, including sanding and grinding
• Prepare paint, including color matching and mixing
• Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
• Follow standardized work procedures
• Ensure all vehicles meet CarMax Paint Standards
• Maintain, repair, and clean equipment as required
• Manage inventory levels of PPE, tools, and chemicals
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization according to CarMax 5S standards
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
• Perform interior and exterior detailing, interior repair, inventory, and paint preparation
• Complete additional duties as assigned by managers

Job Requirements:

• Complete New Associate Orientation Training - Operations
• Meet performance standards for various associate levels
• Complete workstation certifications for different roles
• Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately
• Discern appropriate paint colors for vehicle reconditioning
• Perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs
• Effective communication skills both in person and over the phone
• Complete CarMax training in all functional areas for cross-training

Working Conditions:

• Indoor and outdoor environments, including noisy or inclement weather
• Adherence to all company policies and government regulations (OSHA, EPA)
• Extended walking or standing periods
• Variable work schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts
