Job summary

Summit Polymers, Inc. in Portage, Michigan seeks an Engineer, Manufacturing (Paint) to lead robotic painting and the manufacture of injection molded interior trim parts for automotive applications.

You will develop robust ABB/Fanuc paint programs and optimize 1K/2K processes to meet specifications and maximize throughput. You will write standardized work, monitor paint usage and cycle times, and collaborate with maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and assess capital investments to

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with 1K/2K paint systems and spray processes.

Responsibilities

  • Developing paint programs with 6-axis robots (ABB or Fanuc) to meet customer specs and improve throughput.
  • Developing paint processes for 1K/2K systems using automatic spray guns.
  • Leading cross-functional teams in scrap reduction and continuous improvement using root-cause analysis.
  • Writing standardized work instructions and performing daily process audits to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinating with maintenance for PM schedules and evaluating capital investments to improve reliability.
