Job summary

Dorman Products is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern in the United States to contribute to design and validation tasks across product development. You will work with engineers on specifications, prototyping, and cross-functional projects, gaining hands-on experience in automotive engineering.

The role offers exposure to SolidWorks, GD&T, and automotive systems, with mentorship from experienced engineers and opportunities to contribute to real products.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Basic knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems is a plus.
• SolidWorks experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create design specifications identifying dimensional and performance requirements.
• Support product development and reverse engineering activities.
• Assist with coordination or fabrication of prototype samples.
• Use SolidWorks to create 3D models and drawings, review and correct drawings.
• Conduct first article inspection and product validation testing.
• Coordinate internal and external product testing.
• Examine test data to ensure design meets reliability and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with product team to implement design modifications.
• Participate in cross-functional teams as required.
