Job summary

Cox Automotive in Michigan is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic Technician II to maintain and repair fleet vehicles. The role requires ASE certification, a valid driver's license, and 2-3 years of service experience.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs, while upholding safety standards and cost-conscious service. Flexible schedule includes days, afternoons, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform Preventive Maintenance such as oil changes, oil/filter, fuel filter, battery, and inspection.
• Performs some more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, and some fabrication.
• Based upon certification levels, various repairs and maintenance including: OBD II systems, brakes, tune-ups, suspension, electrical, and driveline components.
• Keep the shop area clean and tidy; follow safety standards and dispose of fluids properly.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex systems, including hybrids and on-board computer systems.
• Take initiative on work and perform duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Automotive Mechanic Technician II

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6AM - 2:30PM

A mid- level vehicle technician provides a high-quality vehicle maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles. Provides service and delivery of vehicles with exceptional service to customers and is mindful of the control of costs. The technician may work independently or in a team environment.

• Perform Preventive Maintenance such as change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, battery, transmission flush, and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
• Performs some more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, and some fabrication.
• Based upon certification levels, various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tune-ups, suspension components, electrical systems, interior/exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc.
• Keep the shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids and martials in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.
• Assures availability of specialized vehicle troubleshooting and repairing complex systems repairs, and electrical systems, hybrids, and on-board computer systems.
• Go above and beyond when inspecting units' work is done at the higher standard.
• Take action on a work without being asked by one's supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• High School Diploma preferred.
• State or ASE Certifications required
• Valid Driver's License and safe driving record required.
• 2-3 years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Must be able to workdays, afternoons, weekends, and holidays when necessary
• Must continue training to maintain current State Certification status and to meet with technology and fleet changes as they occur.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes to meet business requirements.
