Jobbeschreibung

AUTO MECHANIC / AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN — ELGIN, IL

The last vehicle that rolled into this shop had a handwritten note taped to the dash that said, “Good luck.” That tells you everything you need to know about working on cars in Elgin.

Some towns bring you predictable repairs. Elgin brings you adventures.

You’ll get minivans that have survived a decade of youth‑sports carpools, trucks that look like they’ve been commuting through a gravel pit, commuters who swear their car “only makes the noise when I’m on Randall Road,” and the Illinois classic: “It was fine until the temperature dropped 40 degrees overnight.”

This shop is looking for a technician who can handle the unexpected — the mystery vibrations, the “my neighbor tried fixing it,” the dashboards that light up like the Grand Victoria Casino, and the engines that sound like they’re negotiating their retirement package.

They want the tech who can diagnose a problem before the hood even pops, who doesn’t panic when a customer says “Google said it might be the timing chain,” and who can bring a vehicle back from the brink with skill, confidence, and a little mechanical wizardry.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Real diagnostics — not “swap parts until something gives up”
• Repairs on domestic & import vehicles
• Maintenance, brakes, suspension, electrical, and engine work
• Keeping customers safe and their vehicles road‑worthy
• Staying busy — this shop does not believe in slow days

What You Bring

• Experience as an Automotive Technician, Auto Mechanic, or ASE Tech
• Ability to diagnose and repair modern vehicles accurately
• Pride in doing the job right the first time
• A team‑focused mindset
• Certifications are great, but not required

What You Get

• Strong pay based on experience & skill
• A shop culture that actually respects technicians
• Updated tools, diagnostic equipment, and support
• A stable, reputable dealership group in Elgin
• Real opportunities for advancement
