Job description

Performs skilled work at the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel-powered automotive and related equipment. Work involves the performance of skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of automobiles, light and heavy duty trucks, motor graders, bulldozers, mowers, tractors, and other standard and specialized equipment; and related work as required.

1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma issued by a State Department of Education.
2. A valid driver's license.
3. Three (3) years of full-time experience as an automotive mechanic.

2. EITHER: Permanent status with the City of New Orleans as an Auto Mechanic III or higher within the automotive series.
3. OR: Permanent status as an Automotive Mechanic, Assistant and one (1) year of experience in that classification.

A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
