Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Automotive Mechanic III to support the AUTEC mission on Andros Island, Bahamas. Must obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment, perform preventive maintenance, read shop manuals, and document all maintenance activities. You must be able to reside at a remote location with limited medical facilities and lift up to 75 pounds in a loud environment.

Qualifications

• 5 years of diagnostic and mechanical repair experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work in loud environments.
• Must reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.
• Must have U.S. passport and driver's license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.

Job description

Amentum is seeking an Automotive Mechanic IIIto support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair all manner of vehicles and equipment
• Perform general preventive maintenance
• Respond to “road” call for emergency repairs
• Read and understand manufacturers’ shop manuals
• Be familiar with automotive electrical systems and troubleshooting
• Prepare and submit order/requisitions for parts
• Provide complete documentation of all maintenance and repairs
• Repair and maintain tools and equipment
• Use of hand and power tools and electronic diagnostic equipment
• Repair or help repair cranes IAW with Navy Crane Center regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• 5 years of diagnostic and mechanical repair experience.
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Must be able to regularly stand/bend at waist/stoop/crouch and lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to work in loud environment.
• Must be able to work on uneven terrain.
• Must be knowledgeable in operation of Snap-on scan and diagnostic tool.
• Read and understand technical/repair manuals.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.
• Valid U.S. passport and driver's license will be required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASE certifications for light vehicles and air conditioning preferred.
