Job summary

Ohio State University in United States is seeking an Automotive Mechanic 2 to service the university's diverse fleet. The role performs preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and emergency breakdowns on Class 1−8 vehicles, buses, and heavy equipment, using OEM diagnostic tools and welding gear.

Applicants must have hands-on experience with diesel engines, air brakes, HVAC systems, wiring diagrams, and modern diagnostics; ASE Master preferred; final candidates undergo background check.

Qualifications

• Must have hydraulic systems expertise and ability to read wiring diagrams.
• Strong diagnostic skills using OEM software (Ford/GM/Cummins).
• Experience with diesel engines and exhaust after-treatment systems.
• Ability to interpret complex electrical diagrams and troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on a wide fleet.
• Diagnose and repair major systems: engines, transmissions, HVAC, electrical.
• Handle emergency breakdowns and on-call support as needed.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and welding tools for fabrication.
