Job description

Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week) - Core Duty Schedule

Duties of Assignment: Work under the direct supervision of the automotive mechanic crew chief or other supervisory employee responsible for automotive maintenance. Perform skilled work in the repair and maintenance of equipment including cars, buses, trucks, off-road equipment, and related machinery. Receive written and/or oral instructions for repair work, which is reviewed during or after completion. Must be able to drive a bus on an as-needed basis.

Special Qualifications: Knowledge of NYS Department of Transportation regulations regarding school bus maintenance, inspection, and operation procedures. Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with P & S endorsement within 6 months of employment and a valid NYS Department of Motor Vehicle Inspection License for light and heavy-duty vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or vocational school, or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, along with three (3) years of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic; OR seven (7) years of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined within these limits.
