The Employee Connect is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic in Chicago, IL. This well-established shop handles a wide range of makes and models in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

You will diagnose, repair, and service vehicles, with emphasis on safety, quality, and efficiency, and you’ll have access to ongoing training and professional development. A strong candidate will excel at computerized diagnostics, engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Experience working on a variety of makes/models.
• Strong diagnostic skills with computerized equipment.
• Knowledge of engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical and suspension systems.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle inspections and computerized diagnostics to identify issues.
• Complete engine repairs and replace worn components.
• Diagnose and repair transmission concerns.
• Service and repair brake systems (pads, rotors, calipers, lines).
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and wiring issues.
• Repair suspension and steering components and perform general mechanical repairs.
• Complete routine maintenance and preventative service.
• Document inspections, repairs, and services clearly in records.
• Communicate repair findings to service and office staff.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

A well-established automotive service and collision repair company in Chicago is looking for an experienced Automotive Mechanic. This shop works on a wide variety of makes and models and keeps a steady, fast-paced workflow. The strong candidate enjoys solving diagnostic problems and getting vehicles back on the road safely and correctly. Technicians with strong computerized diagnostic skills will stand out.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle inspections and computerized diagnostics to identify mechanical and electrical issues
• Complete engine repairs and replace worn or failed engine components
• Diagnose and repair transmission concerns
• Service and repair brake systems, including pads, rotors, calipers, and lines
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and wiring issues
• Repair suspension and steering components and perform general mechanical repairs
• Complete routine maintenance and preventative service such as fluid services, filters, and tune-ups
• Prioritize and manage repair work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment
• Document inspections, repairs, and services accurately in repair and service records
• Communicate repair findings clearly to service and office staff
• Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe, and follow all shop safety practices

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven experience as an automotive mechanic or technician working on a variety of makes and models
• Strong diagnostic skills, including use of computerized diagnostic equipment
• Working knowledge of engine, transmission, brake, electrical, and suspension systems
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
• Dependable attendance and a professional attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Collision repair experience
• Relevant technical certifications such as ASE
