Responsibilities

An Automotive Maintenance Worker performs safety checks on vehicles and assists mechanics in performing installation, maintenance, and repair work on cars and trucks. The role involves no supervisory duties, requires close supervision, and work in an automotive shop with greasy, dirty conditions and fumes. Moderate physical exertion is required, and shift and weekend work are expected.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. One year of experience in automotive maintenance or repair work, or
  2. Completion of one year of automotive mechanic coursework from an accredited institution (which can substitute for six months of experience).
  3. Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver’s license or an equivalent, with eligibility to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit. Provisional licenses are not accepted.
Additional Requirements
  • Upload a copy of your valid driver’s license when applying.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug testing if selected.
  • Must complete a 6-month probation period.
  • Employees must provide their own starter tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of automotive tools.
  • Ability to drive safely and perform minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
Application and Examination Process

Applicants must provide complete and accurate information. The evaluation will consider education, training, and experience. Qualified candidates will be placed on an eligible list for at least six months.
