Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Motor Vehicle Driver Technician I to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing on automotive equipment at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center. This role requires adherence to safety standards and the ability to operate with moderate supervision in a busy workshop.

The position is full-time, daytime shift, located in Lubbock, with regular overtime and some weekend work.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED or completion of an accredited vocational/technical program in automotive repair, plus one year of related work experience.
• An associate’s degree may substitute for the required work experience.
• Related work experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule and performs other duties as assigned.
• Adjusts brakes and carburetors; installs front wheel bearings, radiators, and universal joints.
• Services vehicles, refuels, and changes oil; cleans shop, equipment, and tools.
• Performs body repair and touch‑up painting; assists in major repairs.
• May operate diagnostic equipment and reference manuals to identify failures.
