Job summary

Kerr Industries is looking to add full-time Automotive Installers to our Day Shift (6:00am to 2:30pm) in Detroit, MI. If you value creativity, are into cars and electronics, and enjoy a fast-paced environment, this is the place for you.

You will install equipment to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles, read drawings, and work in an industrial setting. We offer medical, dental, 401K and bonuses; background check and pre-hire drug screen.

Qualifications

• Experience working with automotive electrical systems.
• Experience working with automotive mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Constructive team player.
• Detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Install all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles, including wiring harnesses, controllers, partitions, light bars and consoles.
• Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles as needed.
• Read drawings and electrical schematics with limited help.
• Work in an industrial environment with heavy physical duties; standing, bending, twisting, stooping and kneeling.
• Occasional fieldwork and varying hours; some overtime may be required.
• Maintain shop and work bay cleanliness and supply own basic tools.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership.

Kerr Industries is looking to add full-time Automotive Installers to our Day Shift (6:00am to 2:30pm). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working and reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, the new Automotive Installer will perform all upfitting tasks, which include but are not limited to:

• Installing all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles. This includes routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, and consoles.
• Disassembling and reassembling factory vehicles
• Expected to read drawings, including electrical schematics with limited help.
• Must be comfortable working in an industrial environment that may require heavy physical duties. Work will involve frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping and kneeling.
• Fieldwork may be required at times as well as varying work hours.
• Some overtime may be required.
• Work independently, maintain accurate records, find efficiencies while respecting quality, and contribute ideas to the company.
• Supply own basic set of tools commonly used in the performance of automotive repair work. Time will be given to new employees to purchase these items after hire if required.
• Maintaining shop and work bay cleanliness
• Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Higher consideration will be given to candidates with relevant training, experience and/or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification.
