Job summary

Grease Monkey is seeking a hood technician to perform engine-compartment services during full-service oil changes. You will direct the bay team, ensure thorough completion, and document work on the Work Order.

Responsibilities include vehicle positioning, fluid checks, emissions component handling when applicable, and final safety verification. Prior hood technician experience or supervised training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills and basic literacy are required, with verbal communication abilities.
• License to operate motor vehicles is required.
• Ability to properly use mechanical hand tools.
• Attention to detail is essential in inspections and record-keeping.
• Minimum 3 months of hood technician experience or supervised training.

Position Overview

During the Full Service Oil Change, the hood technician is responsible for performing all of the services in the engine compartment. The hood technician is also responsible for directing the activities in the bay area, ensuring that the service has been thoroughly completed and recorded on the Work Order.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work safely, wear safety gear, keep work area clean and organized.
• Use Echo System / Echo services and vehicle information
• Direct the vehicle into the bay
• Place fender covers on the vehicle
• Perform light check and check/fill automatic transmission fluid(when applicable), condition and level of oil, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, coolant, battery electrolyte
• Remove and check emissions components: Replace top-side oil filter, when applicable. air filter, cabin air filter, breather, and radiator cap. Deliver emissions components to center manager for customer presentation. when applicable Install emissions components
• Perform visual inspection of belts, hoses, and other hood compartment components, document unusual conditions
• Perform additional services, as needed, perform final safety and quality check
• Record information on Work Order

Other Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the duties listed above, every crew member is responsible for general center maintenance and cleaning duties such as mopping, washing center windows, lawn mowing, clearing litter, snow and ice from the site, and cleaning restrooms. Crew members must attend crew meetings and run errands as required, as well as other duties assigned by a supervisor.

Working Conditions

Materials Used: Automotive oils, fluids and lubricants, windshield washer fluid, battery electrolyte.

Environment: Frequent exposure to outside weather elements, noise, and vehicle exhaust fumes throughout the entire shift.

Physical Activities

Position requires good corrected vision, hearing, frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, handling, reaching, and lifting.
