Qualifications

  • At least 6 months experience operating slope mowers or similar equipment.
  • Possess Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within 6 months.
  • FDOT Temporary Traffic Control certification within 6 months.

Job description

We are currently accepting employment applications for a experienced, safety conscious "Automotive Equipment Operator Two" Equipment Operator. All candidates must have experience operating a slope mower tractor with either a rotor or flail cutting head, apprentice loader, skid steer loader, brush chipper, chip trucks, bush hog mowing, zero turn lawn mowers, various types of two stroke equipment other various varieties of light to medium equipment.

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

What Would You Do?

  • Operation of a Slope Mower.
  • Operation of landscape maintenance and tree trimming equipment.
  • Operation of brush Chipper.
  • Operation of right-of-way brush cutting equipment.
  • Set-up safety signs and barricades.
  • MOT/TTC set up and perform traffic flagging duties.
  • Ability to perform assignments requested orally or in writing
  • Ability to successfully complete accurate accident or other routine daily Cityworks data as well as payroll sheets.
  • Performs related work as assigned or required in a safe, productive and efficient manner.

What Do You Need To Have?

  • At least 6 months of experience in the operation of a Slope Mower or other similar equipment: or
  • A Public Works Academy training certificate for equipment operators; or
  • A Pinellas County employee equipment certification that includes experience or training on job related equipment(s); or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Possession and maintenance of a State of Florida Commercial Driver License "Class B" or higher with a "Air Brake" endorsement within six months of your hiring date. All potential hiring candidates will have their drivers license evaluated and confirmed by a State of Florida Motor Vehicle Records report (MVR)
  • Pinellas County Best Management Practice (BMP) within 6 months of hire
  • FDOT Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations
  • Other knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials required for a specific position
  • Mandatory first responder worker for a storm/hurricane

Highly Desirable

  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial landscape maintenance or experience maintaining right-of-way, road medians, ditch/swale maintenance is highly preferred.
  • FNGLA Certificate.
  • ISA Certification.
  • Heavy Equipment Operators Certificate.
  • State of Florida Pesticide Applicators License. Core and "Right-of-Way" or "Turf and Ornamental"
  • FNGLA Certificate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, adaptabilities, limitations, and safety precautions related to a broad range of automotive and construction equipment.
  • Skill in the operation of small, medium, and heavy automotive and construction equipment.
  • Ability to complete accurate accident or other routine reports.
  • Ability to work under adverse weather conditions and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to operate heavy equipment and perform manual labor.
  • Ability to use small office equipment, computers, and highly technical computer applications.
