Top Dog Engineers in Birmingham, AL, seeks a BIW Automation and Controls Engineer with 4+ years in manufacturing or process engineering focused on automation in steel stamping environments. Location: AL.

Salary: $85,000 to $100,000 plus OT; relocation assistance available, sponsorship is NOT provided. You’ll work with robotics, Rockwell Automation systems, and sophisticated inline stamping equipment; contribute to new programs, collaborate across teams, perform root cause analysis, and support

Qualifications

• 4+ years in Process/Manufacturing Engineering in automotive/high-volume environments with robotics and stamping lines.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Strong communication, analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CAD/SolidWorks and MS Project.
• Robotics programming ability and PLC experience (Allen-Bradley, HMI, Studio 5000, ControlLogix).
• Knowledge of automation stamping lines and vision systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to new product and project programs for stamped metal parts.
• Collaborate with customers, production and engineering teams.
• Perform root cause analysis for PLC, automation and robotics issues.
• Support prototype builds and launches.
• Manage equipment installations and overall project goals and KPIs.
• Maintain machine up-time and takt time; ensure accurate reporting.

Requirements:

• Automation Experience with In-Line Process Machinery, Stamping and Process.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with 4+ years in Process / Manufacturing Engineering in an Automotive or High Volume Consumer Products Environment with Robotics, PLC’s, Automation Equipment, Stamping Press Lines.
• Strong Communication, Analysis, and Problem-Solving Skills.
• CAD/SolidWorks, MS Project.
• Robotics Experience and Ability to Program Robots.
• Strong PLC Experience, Allen-Bradley, HMI’s, Studio 5000, ControlLogix.
• Experience and Good Understanding of Various Vision Systems.
• BS in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or Equivalent Experience.
