Job summary

New York State Thruway Authority seeks a skilled automotive/diesel mechanic for diagnosing faults and performing repairs in a maintenance shop. The role covers gasoline, diesel, and alternative-fuel systems, and may involve field service on disabled vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience diagnosing faulty vehicle or equipment operation and performing mechanical repairs across automotive/diesel systems.
• Education substitutions allow up to two years of experience.
• Graduation from a technical/vocational program may substitute for one year of experience.
• A valid NYS driver’s license is required to operate vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled mechanical work in automotive repair shops for maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gasoline, diesel, and alternative-fuel equipment; may service disabled vehicles and field equipment.
