Job summary

WORKFORCE SERVICES INC is hiring an Automotive Diesel / Gas Mechanic to maintain a diverse fleet of vans and trucks in Port Orchard, WA. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, with fieldwork as needed and pay ranging from $30 to $45+ per hour depending on experience and DOE.

Responsibilities include inspections, diagnostics, major repairs, preventive maintenance, and accurate service documentation. A high school diploma or GED is required; ASE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficient with diesel and gas engines and fleet maintenance.
• Ability to perform inspections and most repairs independently.
• Computer skills for diagnostic and record-keeping tasks.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and diagnose issues.
• Replace worn or damaged parts and services.
• Perform preventive maintenance to keep fleets in top condition.
• Repair major assemblies and sub-assemblies across powertrain, electrical, and hydraulics systems.
• Document services and repairs for vehicle records.
• Work in shop and field as needed in various weather conditions.

Job description

Automotive Diesel / Gas Mechanic $30 - $45+ DOE* We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and skilled mechanic who is self-motivated, accountable, and possesses strong customer service skills. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently and as part of a team and have experience with a diverse fleet of vehicles, Vans, Trucks, including gas and diesel-powered.

Employment Type: Full Time M-F.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Determines vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests
• identifying worn and damaged parts
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules and inspections
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
• Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing as needed
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
• Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
• Though most work will happen at the shop facility, there will be times where field inspections and repairs will need to occur. This position will be expected to work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as required

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Experience and knowledge of diesel/gas engines and Mobile Tech ( Large commercial fleets )
• Ability to perform inspections/diagnostics and most repairs without supervision
• Computer proficiency
• Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS

• High school diploma or GED with one to three years of related technical experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training required
• ASE Certification(s) (preferred; but not required)
• Have Own Tools
