Rimrock / Snowy Mountain Automotive Group in Billings, MT seeks an experienced Automotive Controller to lead accounting for CDJR, Ford, and Chevrolet dealerships across multiple rooftops. This hands-on leader will drive financial accountability and build a high-performing team.

The role requires deep automotive accounting expertise, cross-site leadership, and a track record of accurate financial reporting and month-end closes.

Qualifications

• Automotive dealership accounting experience is required.
• Proven experience as a senior dealership accounting leader.
• Multi-rooftop dealership accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of dealership financials and manufacturer reporting.
• Dealertrack DMS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting and financial operations across multiple dealership rooftops.
• Manage financial reporting for CDJR, Ford, and Chevrolet dealerships.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements with accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations.
• Monitor cash flow, floorplan accounts, inventory and contracts in transit.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance across locations.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Oversee all accounting and financial operations across multiple dealership rooftops.
• Manage financial reporting for CDJR, Ford, and Chevrolet dealerships.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
• Monitor cash flow, floorplan accounts, vehicle inventory, and contracts in transit.
• Ensure accurate manufacturer financial reporting and compliance.
• Review schedules, identify discrepancies, and resolve accounting issues.
• Establish and maintain strong internal accounting controls.
• Monitor dealership expenses and identify opportunities for improved profitability.
• Supervise, train, and develop accounting department personnel.
• Work directly with General Managers and executive leadership.
• Ensure financial accuracy and consistency across all dealership locations.
• Support audits, tax preparation, and financial reporting requirements.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• AUTOMOTIVE DEALERSHIP ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED!
• Proven experience as an Automotive Dealership Controller or equivalent senior dealership accounting leader.
• Multi-rooftop dealership accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of automotive dealership financial statements and manufacturer reporting.
• Experience with CDJR, Ford, Chevrolet, or other franchised dealerships preferred.
• Dealertrack DMS experience is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of general ledger, floorplan accounting, inventory, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience managing accounting teams and overseeing multiple financial operations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced dealership environment.
• Experience with automotive dealership management systems (DMS).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with dealership leadership.
