Job summary

SFE in Raymond, OH is seeking an experienced CAE Engineer to design and develop automotive chassis components, including suspension, subframes, and engine mounts. This long-term contract role requires strong CATIA V6 skills, GD&T knowledge, and the ability to interpret CAE results.

You will collaborate with design engineers, test teams, and suppliers to resolve technical issues, manage multiple projects, and deliver robust, manufacturable designs on schedule.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related engineering/design experience.
• Automotive chassis component design and development experience.
• CATIA V6 proficiency.
• Strong solid modelling capability.
• Understanding of design intent and robust modelling practices.
• Ability to create and interpret 2D engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.
• Strong understanding of design for manufacturability.
• Ability to independently analyse technical problems and collaborate with teams and suppliers.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive chassis components, including suspension/steering, subframes, engine mounts, wheels, brakes, fuel/exhaust, and related components.
• Develop robust 3D designs using CATIA V6.
• Create and interpret 2D engineering drawings.
• Apply working knowledge of GD&T and design-for-manufacturability principles.
• Collaborate with design engineers, test engineers, and suppliers to analyses and resolve technical issues.
• Evaluate technical proposals and communicate engineering recommendations.
• Interpret basic CAE results, including stiffness and natural-frequency analysis.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while supporting established development schedules.
• Prepare technical documentation, communicate research, and test results.
