AUTOMOTIVE BODY SHOP PORTER

THE POSITION: The Body Shop Porter moves and cleans vehicles, keeps the vehicles in sound working condition, and helps the body shop as necessary.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to complete tasks on your own as well as with a team.

Education And Experience:

  • No retail experience is necessary.
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drives vehicles to and from body shop and parking lot as needed.
  • Maintains vehicle inventory appearance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles.
  • Keeps body shop lots neat and orderly, moving cars as directed by the body shop manager.
  • Sweeps, shovels or vacuums loose debris or salvageable scrap into containers and removes containers from work areas.
  • Inspects parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with standards or regulations.
  • Makes key tags for vehicles.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and handle tools.
  • Requires the ability to lift 40 pounds of material.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle repair facility.
  • Frequently exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
