Job summary

Summit Polymers is seeking an Engineer, Manufacturing (Assembly) to lead hands-on assembly of injection molded plastic parts for automotive interior trim and center consoles. You will provide technical leadership to production teams and drive operational excellence daily.

Responsibilities include defining robust assembly machines, standardizing work, and validating equipment prior to production launch. Strong PLC, CAD, and welding/packaging knowledge is required; travel is minimal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; or 5 years automotive manufacturing or assembly machinery experience
  • Proficiency in Omron PLC programming
  • Ability to read electrical/pneumatic prints
  • Experience with SolidWorks/eDrawings for modeling and measurement
  • Knowledge of plastic welding and secondary decoration processes
  • Familiarity with sensors and vision systems for robust assembly
  • Strong MS Office skills; good verbal/written communication
  • Experience with automation and lean manufacturing concepts (kaizen)

Responsibilities

  • Lead assembly machine activities for new product launches
  • Develop standardized work, capacity analyses, and cell layouts
  • Create and review machine design and validation plans
  • Write standardized work instructions for safe, high-quality operation
  • Support maintenance with preventive maintenance plans
  • Troubleshoot process/equipment issues and implement improvements
  • Assist in cost/benefit justifications for process changes
  • Coordinate with product development and packaging teams
