Job summary

Nielsen Ford of Sussex Automotive Apprentice Technician is a full-time, on-site role in Sussex, New Jersey. The apprenticeship combines hands-on training with coaching from experienced technicians and managers to build diagnostic and repair skills during the program.

The ideal candidate is curious about how vehicles operate, enjoys working with hands, and is eager to learn current automotive technology while progressing within Nielsen Nissan’s service department.

Qualifications

• Interest in automotive maintenance, repair, and diagnostic technology.
• Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn how vehicle systems operate.
• Strong problem-solving skills and readiness to ask questions.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions carefully.
• Willingness to accept coaching and progressively advanced assignments.
• Dependable attendance and ability to report to work as scheduled.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn diagnostic systems.
• Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
• Commitment to safe work practices and proper use of tools and equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable under Company requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participate fully in the Company’s apprentice development and coaching program.
• Work under the direction of experienced technicians and service management.
• Assist with vehicle inspections, routine maintenance, and entry-level repairs.
• Learn to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle concerns.
• Develop proficiency with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and service information.
• Follow repair instructions and safety standards, documenting findings and work performed.
