Job summary

Novelis Greensboro facility seeks an Automation Technician to support safe, reliable operation of plant automation and electrical systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and instrumentation while coordinating with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams.

Requires 3+ years in industrial automation, with PLC/HMI expertise and SAP/CMMS familiarity. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate degree in electrical/automation tech preferred.
Journeyman license or automation certification preferred.
Minimum 3 years in industrial manufacturing, maintenance, automation, or controls.
Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, sensors, instrumentation, and motor controls.
Familiarity with SAP and CMMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, industrial computers, process control systems, instrumentation, sensors, drives, and automation equipment.
Serve as the primary technical resource for automation and process control during shifts.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
Diagnose electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation-related failures using structured troubleshooting.
Conduct backups, firmware updates, and software maintenance for PLC, HMI, and control systems.
Monitor system health and reliability trends to identify improvements.
Document maintenance activities and system modifications accurately.
