Job summary

ASC Machine Tools, Inc. in Spokane is seeking an Automation Technician to commission and troubleshoot industrial equipment. You will write PLC/HMI code, perform audits, and work with engineers, production staff, and customers to ensure machines meet design specs and performance standards.

This hands-on role involves frequent travel to customer sites across the United States and Canada, starting up new systems and diagnosing field issues as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience in automated systems or electrical tech.
• Proven experience troubleshooting electrical controls and automation systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder logic; read DMM/oscilloscope readings.

Responsibilities

• Commission and start up new industrial equipment in shop and at customer sites.
• Write, modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs for proper operation.
• Audit and inspect equipment to identify performance issues and upgrades.
• Diagnose electrical and control problems during build, startup, and field integration.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and assembly teams to test machine functionality.
• Update wiring schematics, technical docs, and equipment audit reports; keep software current.
