Jack Link's Protein Snacks in Underwood, IA is seeking a Maintenance – Automation Technician to keep automated packaging lines running. You will troubleshoot hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, perform start‑up checks, and lead maintenance to minimize downtime while following HACCP and SOPs.
The role requires electronics tech training or college coursework, plus hands‑on experience in a distribution/production environment, with strong math, communication, and leadership skills.
Hours: Friday-Sunday, 5:30 am - 6 pm
The role of the Maintenance – Automation Technician is responsible for ensuring all automated machines are operating effectively. The technician stops production when machines are not running effectively, troubleshoots the problem, and finds solutions quickly. Extensive knowledge on hydraulics, pneumatics, systems, and a working knowledge of PLCs is required. This position is carried out in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
Some college level training in Electronics Technology or a similar technical field. Combination of experience and skilled trade programs or military training is acceptable.
The starting rate for this role is $23.42‑$29.28 hourly. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program‑specific awards. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. The work environment is a plant/office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet/slippery floors. Part of the job is conducted in a climate‑controlled building but also includes work on the roof and maintaining the grounds during inclement weather. Travel to other facilities may be required.
