Job summary

Hershey Creamery Co in Middletown, PA is seeking a Controls Technician reporting to the Automation Supervisor to manage maintenance scheduling, fix PLC/HMI issues, and ensure GMP/HACCP-compliant operation.

The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, updating software, coordinating with vendors, and supporting production equipment to minimize downtime and sustain quality.

Qualifications

• Hard-working with excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to read electrical wire diagrams.
• Mechanical & electrical aptitude.
• CAD familiarity is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain PLCs and HMIs, including updates and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot and repair printers, labelers, and date-coding equipment; work with vendors to set up and install new/updated coding applications.
• Develop and maintain a library of default equipment & motor drive settings as well as existing electrical prints.
• Maintain PLC component parts inventory with computerized maintenance management software.
• Maintain/PM robotic palletizers and scanning equipment; update software to support new product palletizing configurations.
• Assist maintenance technicians with repairs on production equipment.
• Update obsolete instrumentation with modern replacements.
• Assist parts coordinator with purchasing PLC components to maintain inventory.

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Automation Supervisor, the Controls Technician will be responsible for any and all activities involving the execution and scheduling of maintenance activities needed to operate the facility, scheduling work as it pertains to corrective and preventative maintenance in adherence to GMP and HACCP standards.

Compensation

Pay: $28-36/hr. dependent on experience
