Job summary

Kenco Logistics is seeking an Automation Technician I to maintain and improve its Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). You will diagnose, repair, and tune automation equipment, working closely with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and boost throughput.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of mechanic experience; preferably with repair and maintenance of automated systems and conveyors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to diagnose and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on ASRS and related automation equipment.
  • Work in elevated areas with fall protection in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with operations to optimize ASRS performance, improving efficiency, reliability, and throughput.
  • Maintain parts inventory and repair records with accurate documentation.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance documentation for system configurations and procedures.
  • Ensure safety standards compliance during maintenance or repair tasks.
  • Assist with general cleanliness of the service area.

Join a company where your contributions help move the world forward—one shipment at a time.About the PositionAs an Automation Technician I, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). This role involves working closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure the ASRS and related equipment perform reliably and efficiently, minimizing downtime and supporting our operational goals at Kenco Fleet Services.FunctionsPerform regular maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on ASRS and related automation equipment, ensuring minimal downtime with OSHA and operational standards.Perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities in elevated work areas, including the use of fall protection equipment in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.Collaborate with the operations team to optimize ASRS system performance, including adjustments to improve efficiency, reliability, and throughput.Maintain parts inventory and repair records for all equipment by completing accurate paperwork.Assist with the development of, and maintain preventative maintenance documentation on system configurations, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides; monitor maintenance checklists to ensure efficient equipment operation.Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols while performing maintenance or repair tasks.Use repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot all automated systems to include all conveyor systems.Communicate abuse or damages to onsite personnel with a detailed description of the problem.Responsible for general cleanliness of service area.Other duties as assigned by management.QualificationsHigh school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate required.0 – 2 years of mechanic experience; preferably prior experience with repair and maintenance, automated systems, and conveyors, or similar equipment.Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment and systems.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical team members.Commitment to safety and quality standards.Self-motivated, self-directed, highly responsible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.Must be able to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.Must be able to safely operate lift trucks, scissor lifts and boom lifts.CompetenciesAction Oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.Decision Quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.Optimizes Work Processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.Situational Adaptability - Adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.Travel RequirementsThis position is expected to travel approximately 25% or less.A passport is not required, but recommended.DisclosuresFor California residents – please enter or copy/paste the address below into your address bar to review an important notice regarding Kenco’s privacy policy https://www.kencogroup.com/ccpa-notice-at-collection-for-employees-and-applicants/The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job.
