Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation in Wisconsin seeks an Automation Technician to maintain and advance automated manufacturing systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment, working with engineers and operators to minimize downtime and improve productivity in a GMP-adjacent environment.

This role requires a two-year technical degree and hands-on experience with pneumatic and electrical controls, plus the ability to read blueprints and train others.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus completion of a two-year technical degree or associate degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics, servo, pneumatic systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Three or more years of hands‑on experience in automation maintenance, equipment repair, manufacturing automation, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience building, testing, commissioning, and supporting automated production equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic and electrical control systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, electronic, servo, and pneumatic systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and support others.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence.
  • Assemble, wire, test, and debug new automation and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support the design, fabrication, commissioning, and implementation of automation solutions that improve productivity and quality.
  • Inspect equipment and tooling to identify improvement opportunities and proactively address performance issues.
  • Maintain critical spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of essential components.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Train manufacturing support employees and Process Technicians on the operation and basic troubleshooting of automated equipment.
  • Track, analyze, and report equipment utilization, efficiency, and reliability metrics.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence.
  • Assemble, wire, test, and debug new automation and manufacturing equipment.

  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble tooling, fixtures, and production equipment as required.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, safety requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) within a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Support 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives while contributing to safety, quality, productivity, scrap reduction, and continuous improvement goals.
