Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation in Franklin, WI is seeking an Automation Technician to lead the reliability, performance, and advancement of automated manufacturing systems. You will troubleshoot, assemble, wire, test, and support automation equipment, driving productivity and quality improvements in a GMP environment.

Candidates should have a 2-year technical degree and 3+ years of hands-on automation maintenance with strong skills in pneumatic and electrical control systems, plus experience reading

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 2-year technical/associate degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics, servo or pneumatic systems.
  • 3+ years of hands-on automation maintenance or related experience.
  • Experience reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience building, testing, commissioning, and supporting automated production equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic and electrical control systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operations.
  • Assemble, wire, test, and debug new automation and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support design, fabrication, commissioning, and implementation of automation solutions to improve productivity and quality.
  • Inspect equipment and tooling to identify improvement opportunities and address performance issues.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of essential components.
  • Develop and improve preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Train manufacturing staff on operation and basic troubleshooting of automated equipment.
  • Track and report equipment utilization, efficiency, and reliability metrics.
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble tooling and fixtures as needed.
  • Follow SOPs, GMPs, and safety requirements in a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Support 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives.

In This Role, You Will
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence.
  • Assemble, wire, test, and debug new automation and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support the design, fabrication, commissioning, and implementation of automation solutions that improve productivity and quality.
  • Inspect equipment and tooling to identify improvement opportunities and proactively address performance issues.
  • Maintain critical spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of essential components.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Train manufacturing support employees and Process Technicians on the operation and basic troubleshooting of automated equipment.
  • Track, analyze, and report equipment utilization, efficiency, and reliability metrics.
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble tooling, fixtures, and production equipment as required.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, safety requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) within a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Support 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives while contributing to safety, quality, productivity, scrap reduction, and continuous improvement goals.
Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus completion of a two-year technical degree or associate degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics, servo, pneumatic systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Three or more years of hands-on experience in automation maintenance, equipment repair, manufacturing automation, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience building, testing, commissioning, and supporting automated production equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic and electrical control systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, electronic, servo, and pneumatic systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and support others.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a high level of accountability, integrity, and adaptability.
