Job summary

TETRA Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Automation Technician to implement, test, maintain and repair automation equipment in our energy services operations. You will troubleshoot and optimize performance while staying current with automation theory and safety practices.

Travel up to 20% is required, and relocation may be necessary. You will perform skilled maintenance, diagnose electronic and mechanical issues, and contribute to continuous improvement and documentation as directed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of Instrumentation experience.
  • Travel: Willing to travel 20% and relocate if necessary.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License; Vocational training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance, repairs and overhauls on automation equipment as directed by leadership.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose automation equipment and mechanical system failures.
  • Optimize equipment performance and stay current with advanced pump and automation theory.
  • Comply with safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and demonstrate leadership where required.
  • Present a professional image and maintain documentation as directed.

Reporting to Product Line leadership, the Automation Technician responds as necessary to provide implementation, testing, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of automation equipment

  • Perform skilled tasks including all levels of maintenance, repairs, and overhauls as directed by leadership
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose all levels of Energy Services automation equipment and mechanical system failures
  • Optimize Energy Services equipment performance
  • Stay abreast of advanced pump and automation theory and maintenance
  • Comply with all company and customer safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Comply with all other company policies and procedures
  • Complete appropriate paperwork as directed
  • Perform duties as trainer when required
  • Continually hone and develop electronic and computer skills
  • Must be highly proficient in automated and mechanical systems maintenance
  • Must have troubleshooting skills that seldom require assistance
  • Should be able to diagnose electronic and mechanical control problems
  • Must be able to operate all types of diagnostic tools
  • Must have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Should have thorough understanding of reference materials
  • Preferred experience in process instrumentation / SCADA
  • Demonstrate and further develop leadership skills.
  • Present a professional image.
Requirements:
  • EDUCATION: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • EXPERIENCE: Must have 1-3 years of Instrumentation experience
  • TRAVEL: Must be willing to travel 20% and willing to relocate, if necessary
  • LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Driver’s License, Vocational training is preferred
