Job description

Travel to customer locations necessary.

This position is responsible for some aspects of assembly, troubleshooting, development, installation, and training for service of custom assembly automation designed to perform tasks with minimal human intervention. In addition, the Level 1 technician plays a critical role in the job documentation, quality, and if required, professionally representing EAM/Prescott Metal in the field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assembly

Assemble, repair, and maintain the computer-controlled systems and robotic devices used within the industrial and commercial products EAM builds.
Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems, and perform repairs. Automation setup, startup, and debug.
If a problem occurs, the technician needs to troubleshoot the issue and determine if the problem is mechanical, electrical or from the computer systems controlling the process.
Maintain accurate Bill of Material (BOM) changes for all jobs.
Maintaining accurate time logging for jobs.
Test performance of electro-mechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as multimeters and electronic controls testing equipment, and analyze/record test results.
Assist in preparing written testing documentation.
Prioritizing tasks based on production and service needs.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned to aid Prescott Metal/EAM achieve its goals.

Installation and Service

Assist with service and spare parts sales.
Assist with technical phone support.
Machine setup and run up through customer approval process.
Automation setup, startup, and debug at customer facility.
Travel required to customer locations.
Customer training.

Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required:

High school diploma; preferred to have completed an automation technology or mechatronics associate degree program.
Electrical wiring and crimping skills, small to large wire gauge and cable assemblies.
Knowledge and experience operating power tools and hand tools.
Mechanical and electrical assembly ability
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical blueprints.
Basic understanding of mechanical components, bearings, pneumatic systems, etc.
Basic understanding of electrical sensors, PLC’s, motor drives, vision systems, etc.
Ability to read and interpret production job orders and bills of materials.
Basic troubleshooting ability, and experience working with engineers on projects.
Ability to design and build jibs and fixtures.
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
Ability to learn to use basic ERP systems.
Basic ability to use and understand precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, squares, scales, etc.
Ability to perform service and/or machine installations in the field.
