Job summary

Van Meter Inc. is seeking an Industrial Sales Intern to gain hands-on experience in industrial automation, technical sales, and customer engagement.

You will support the Industrial Sales Department while working with Automation Specialists, Inside Sales, and the Sales Support Team to develop customer solutions and build technical expertise. Interns will be matched with mentors, participate in community impact initiatives, visit multiple branch locations, and gain practical experience supporting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently a college sophomore or junior.
• Currently pursuing a degree in a technical field (Engineering, Automation, Robotics, CS, IT).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to organize work, manage priorities, and accept feedback.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Electrical Distribution Orientation to learn department roles and partner relationships.
• Engage in job shadowing across departments with a focus on Automation-related functions.
• Support and learn from Automation Support and Design Engineering teams on technical solutions.
• Accompany Account Managers on customer site visits to gain engagement experience.
• Develop technical knowledge in an assigned focus area.
• Attend commercial events and assist with technical sessions, labs, and trade shows.
• Assist in creating training materials for internal development and customer education.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support customer solutions and business initiatives.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, customer service, and company values.
